The Women’s Big Bash League has announced its official “Team of the Tournament” after Melbourne Renegades captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s outstanding all-around performance this season. (Also in Cricket)
For the Renegades, Harmanpreet has excelled with both the bat and the ball, scoring 399 runs and hitting three half-centuries. Her striking percentage is a remarkable 135.25 percent, when her average is 66.5.
Her best performance was an undefeated 81-run knock last week against the Sydney Thunder. Additionally, she has already struck a competition-best 18 sixes.
Harmanpreet Kaur has led the Renegades’ ascent back up the ladder since joining her new side, according to cricket.co.au. She has been a powerful force with both bat and ball.
Following the team’s premier leg-spinner, Georgia Wareham, suffering an injury, Harmanpreet also demonstrated her mettle on the field. The 32-year-old has taken 15 wickets and has excelled during the power play. The finest stats, 3/22, belong to the Indian T20 captain.
Despite some excellent performances by players like Smriti Mandhana, who became the first player from her country to make a century in the league with a record-equaling 114 not out, Harmanpreet is the only Indian to be in the WBBL Best XI.
The only other foreign player in the Best XI, after Harmanpreet, is Perth Scorchers all-rounder Sophie Devine from New Zealand.
