The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have named Yuzvendra Chahal as their new captain for the IPL 2022 season, according to their Twitter account. Following some uncertainty, it was discovered that their account was in the hands of the leggie himself, who introduced himself as the captain.
Chahal was purchased by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise in the IPL 2022 Auction for INR 6.5 crores after he was not retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), for whom he played from the 2014 IPL onwards.
Chahal is one of the most successful leg-spinners in the Indian Premier League, with 139 wickets and an economy rate of 7.59 in 114 games for the Royal Challengers Bangalore side.
Yuzvendra Chahal allegedly declared on March 16, 2022 that he had the admin password for the RR Twitter account and had chosen to have some fun with it. The RR account first posted a picture of Yuzvendra Chahal with the caption “Meet new RR skipper.”
Even the true captain of the RR franchise, Sanju Samson, praised Chahal, prompting the RR account to label him “jealous.”
The account then posted a snapshot of Chahal batting, with the condition that if the tweet received more than 1000 retweets, Chahal will open the batting alongside Jos Buttler in IPL 2022.
For the IPL 2022 season, RR has unveiled a new design jersey.
