After a strong performance in the first two matches of their present ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League series against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan has become only the third bowler from his country to be rated in the top two of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings.
Mehidy has moved up three places to second place after bowling with the new ball and posting scores of four for 30 and three for 28. Shakib Al Hasan, an all-rounder, took the number one spot for the first time in 2009, while left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak, a left-arm spinner, was the only Bangladesh bowler to make the top two, reaching second place in 2010.
Mustafizur Rehman, a left-arm fast bowler from Bangladesh, has climbed eight places to ninth place on the list with hauls of three for 34 and three for 16. Rahim’s highest finish was fifth, which he achieved in December of 2018.
After scoring 84 and 125, Mushfiqur Rahim, who was named player of the match in both ODIs, has risen four places to a career-high 14th position. With scores of 54 and 41, Mahmudullah has moved up two places to 38th place.
Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera’s three-for-44 haul in the second match has moved him up 11 positions to joint-61st, along with compatriot PWH de Siva, who has also moved up eight places.
Dhananjaya de Silva (up nine places to 83rd) and Lakshan Sandakan (up nine places to 94th) are among the other bowlers who have improved in the current weekly report, which also contains results from the Netherlands-Scotland two-match series.
Richard Berrington of Scotland has moved up two places to joint-72nd after his 41-ball 41 in the opening round of the series in Rotterdam, while Max O’Dowd of the Netherlands has moved up 11 places to 150th after his 102-ball 82 in the same event.
