BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Sunday announced a whopping 500 crore cash reward for the entire Indian squad after their title-winning performance at the inaugural Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup.
India swept England by her seven wickets margin in the final in South Africa.
Her U-19 team in India, led by Shafali Verma, have done what their predecessors failed to do by clearing the final hurdle in a global event.
“Women’s cricket is on the rise in India and the World Cup win has elevated the status of women’s cricket by several steps. I am happy to announce. This is indeed a landmark year,” Shah tweeted after India’s win.
The Secretary also invited the entire unit to Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
“We invite @TheShafaliVerma and her winning team to Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to witness his T20I for the third time on February 1. This tremendous achievement certainly deserves to be celebrated.” he added.
