IPL 2021 : Jason Roy has arrived in Chennai to join the SunRisers Hyderabad team

Jason Roy, an England batsman, arrived in Chennai on Saturday for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which began on April 9. Roy was signed as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh by the SunRisers Hyderabad ahead of the tournament. Due to personal reasons, the Australian all-rounder was unavailable for the entire season. The 2016 IPL champions paid Rs 2 crore for Roy’s services, according to a media advisory released by the league earlier.

In 2018, the England limited-overs opener moved to Delhi Capitals from Gujarat Lions, but in two IPL seasons, he only managed one fifty in eight games.

Due to personal reasons, he did not participate in the previous year’s edition.

Many of the players from the SRH squad have joined the team since Roy’s arrival. Roy will now be quarantined for seven days before rejoining the team, as per BCCI protocol.

In the 13th edition of the tournament, the David Warner-led side had won five of their last six games to qualify for the playoffs, and the team will be hoping to maintain the momentum in this year’s IPL.

On Sunday, SRH will play Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to launch their IPL campaign.
