Ajinkya Rahane was sold to Chennai Super Kings for a base price of Rs 50 lakh at the IPL 2023 auction held in Kochi on Friday. CSK was the only team to move to his Rahane.

In the 2022 season, Rahane suffered a hamstring injury during his Riders’ Sunrise match against Hyderabad at Kolkata Nights, ending his campaign prematurely.

Rahane finished with a 19.00 average and a 103.90 batting average on 133 carries from seven innings and was released ahead of a mini-auction in December.

Rahane’s best innings came in Knight’s first game against Chennai’s Super Kings, when he struck 44 of his 34 balls. But over the next four games, his returns were mediocre at 9, 12, 7, 8.

Rahane has previously played for the Delhi He Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, the now defunct Rising Pune He Supergiants and Mumbai He Indians.

Rahane fell out of favor with domestic selectors who have not played a friendly since January. He is currently leading Mumbai with his trophy for 2022-23 Ranji.
