On Day 1 of the auction, the Mumbai Indians acquired Ishan Kishan back for Rs 15.25 crore, making him the second most expensive Indian player behind Yuvraj Singh. Kishan’s base price of Rs 2 crore was more than seven times his selling price.
On Day 2 of the IPL super auction in Bengaluru on Sunday, Archer was purchased by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore. Despite this, Archer will not be able to participate in the IPL this season as he recovers from an injury. The Mumbai Indians see Archer as one of their legends, filling the void left by Lasith Malinga for the next five to six years and willing to make a one-year sacrifice.
