NEW DELHI: The Delhi Capitals have to pivot quickly. Over the last three seasons, the franchise’s transformation into a superpower has relied on specialists in their respective fields going all-out. With their primary players leaving to other clubs with lucrative deals in the mega auctions, the organisation has resorted to more experienced and utility players.
The bowling attack, which included Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, R Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Avesh Khan, had an ominous aspect to it. To complement Nortje and Axar, Shardul Thakur, Mustafizur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, and Lungi Ngidi will take on prominent roles in their own variants.
The loss of Shikhar Dhawan, Shimron Hetmyer, and Marcus Stoinis is likely to be compensated for by David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, the player of the T20 World Cup and player of the T20 World Cup final, respectively. The main difficulty, however, will be to stabilise the middle order, allowing skipper Rishabh Pant to play a high-impact role.
Actors like KS Bharat, Mandeep Singh, and Sarfaraz Khan are expected to star in this film.
Last year, Bharat played at No. 3 for RCB, and he did an excellent job.If necessary, he is likely to take on a similar position here. Saba Karim, DC’s head of talent search, told TOI shortly after the auction on Sunday evening, “He is not merely considered as a backup wicketkeeper to Pant.”
