Cricket West Indies (CWI) has hired Brian Lara as a performance mentor and collaborates in various forms with international West Indies teams and the Board Academy.
According to a CWI press release, Lara “provides tactical advice to his players, improves their senses and works closely with the Cricket Director [Jimmy Adams] on strategic planning for the ICC World Cup tournament”, thereby contributing to a variety of careers. Support the head coach. .
“Spending time with the players and coaches in Australia and talking with CWI really believes we can help players become more successful with their mental approach and tactics to the game,” said Lara. His first assignment will be the West Indies test team in Zimbabwe, where he will help prepare for the first test, which starts in Bulawayo on February 4th. Before the test, the West Indies will also have four days of warm-up games starting in Bulawayo on Saturday.

The West Indies’ final Test of his series took place in Australia last month, where he lost 2–0 to T20 Worlds just after he was eliminated in the first round of his Cup. Lara was also a member of the judging panel appointed by the CWI to investigate the West Indies’ poor performance at the T20 World Cup.
CWI did not specify how long Lara will be working with various teams, but the ODI World Cup in India will be held in the United States and the Caribbean 10 months ago. It’s now about 18 months before the T20 World Cup.
In the meantime, Lara, of course, will also serve as head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad at IPL 2023, replacing Tom Moody last September.
