IPL PREDICTION : MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, has been fined for his slow over-rate against the Delhi Capitals

MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, was fined Rs 12 lakh on Saturday at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai for sustaining a slow over-rate during his team’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season opener against Delhi Capitals. Delhi Capitals chased down the 189-run mark with eight balls to spare after CSK bowled just 18.4 overs. According to an IPL media statement, “Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 10.”

“Mr Dhoni was fined Rs 12 lakh because it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimal over-rate offences,” it said.

CSK scored 188/7 from their allotted 20 overs after being put in to bat on Saturday, thanks to Suresh Raina’s half-century and contributions from Moeen Ali (36), Ravindra Jadeja (26 not out), and Sam Curran (34).

Chris Woakes and Avesh Khan each took two wickets, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Tom Curran each took one wicket despite being a little too expensive.

In response, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw put on a brilliant 138-run opening stand to put Delhi Capitals on course for an easy victory.

Dhawan smashed 85 runs in an innings that featured 10 boundaries and two maximums.

Shaw, on the other side, hit 72 runs off only 38 pitches. He had three sixes and nine fours in his career.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, remained unbeaten on 15 and also scored the winning runs for his team.
