Prithvi Shaw, Shardul Thakur, and Kuldeep Yadav of Team India have joined the Delhi Capitals for their pre-season training ahead of the Indian Premier League’s 15th edition (IPL 2022). The franchise announced the arrival of the three players at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai on social media earlier today.
The franchise kept four players ahead of the IPL 2022 super auction, including Prithvi Shaw (7.5 crore). At last month’s auction, they were able to get the services of Shardul Thakur (for 10.75 crore) and Kuldeep Yadav (about 2 crore).
The Delhi Capitals will kick off their season on March 27 against the Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne – CCI Stadium. This year’s captain will be Rishabh Pant.
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting will lead the squad as head coach, with assistant coaches Pravin Amre, Ajit Agarkar, and Shane Watson. The bowling coach has been named James Hopes.
The Delhi Capitals are currently looking for their first championship title in the event. While they were the most dominating team throughout the league stage, they were unable to secure a final spot and were eliminated after losing in Qualifier 1 and 2 to Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively.
