One Big Name Who Might Be Released, Franchise-Wise : IPL 2022 AUCTION

It’s all very excited about the IPL mega auction 2022, as things are starting to loosen up and franchises are beginning to consider all of their options for retaining players. Along with the addition of two more clubs to the IPL, the regulations for the mega auction have been slightly revised.

Each squad is allowed to keep four players, which might be a mix of three Indians and one foreigner or two Indians and two foreigners. Here is one huge name from each club that might be released during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

1. Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan will be the most unlucky player, as the veteran batsman is expected to be overlooked in favour of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Prithvi Shaw, the top three picks. Dhawan finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer with 380 runs in eight games for the Delhi Capitals, but his great form may not be enough to keep him, with the age factor favouring Prithvi Shaw over him.

2. Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina had a disappointing IPL season, unable to impress after scoring a half-century in the opening match. Raina hasn’t played professional cricket in a long time, and he’s also looked out of place in the IPL. Raina is unlikely to be retained because CSK is expected to keep MS Dhoni, Jadeja, and Gaikwad as the Indian three. Raina only scored 123 runs in seven games this season.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was a key member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore roster until the last season, when he did not appear to be at his best. In the IPL 2021, he only managed to pick up four wickets in seven matches, indicating that he did not perform well at the international level. With Kohli, Padikkal, and Siraj in the mix, Chahal will have to settle for second place.

4. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been a prolific run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, but despite being a vital part of the team, he may not be retained. Suryakumar Yadav is unlikely to be retained with Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah in the mix. In the seven games he participated in the IPL this season, he scored 173 runs.

5. Chris Morris

After being one of the most expensive players in the league, Chris Morris has had a successful IPL 2021 season so far, taking 14 wickets in seven matches. He also single-handedly won two matches for the Rajasthan Royals with the bat, proving to be a great buy. Morris’ retention may be challenging with the likes of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer in the mix.

6. Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle had a good IPL season last year, but his age is catching up with him, and he appears to be out of shape for the next two years. This season, Gayle has 178 runs in eight games, and the huge left-hander is still highly productive in T20 cricket. Punjab may opt for Nicholas Pooran or Riley Meredith over the 41-year-old due to the fact that one overseas player is set to be kept.

7. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik is one of the top finishers in the IPL and has plenty of T20 cricket expertise. Karthik batted well in the middle order for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season, but the Kolkata Knight Riders are more likely to keep only two Indian players, Shubman Gill and Varun Chakravarthy. The veteran batter has a few more years of cricket left in him, but KKR is unlikely to keep him.

8. David Warner

David Warner is one of the top players in the IPL, having some impressive statistics to his credit. However, he did not have the best of IPL seasons last year, scoring 193 runs in six games and being fired as captain due to a string of losses. As a result of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s decision to name Williamson as captain, Rashid Khan will be the other player on the field, and Warner will be forced to sit out.
