Harbhajan Singh is a four-time IPL winner and ranks seventh among IPL wicket-takers all-time.
Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian off-spinner who recently declared his retirement from all forms of cricket, has unveiled his leadership options for an all-star IPL game. Harbhajan Singh is an IPL icon, having taken 150 wickets in 163 games at an economy rate of 7.07 and spending the most of his career with the IPL’s most successful team, the Mumbai Indians. He was released by the franchise before of the IPL 2018 Mega auction, and the spinner was purchased by Chennai Super Kings.
MS Dhoni mostly used the off-spinner at home, where the pitch produces a lot of turn, and he was a match-winner in the Chennai conditions. The 41-year-old spinner is one of the few players to have represented both the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings, and he has also led MI in the past.
Harbhajan played in the first phase of the IPL 2021 for the Kolkata Knight Riders before being benched for the second phase. He was one of those astute bowlers who could bowl at various stages of the game and was also quite useful further down the order. The blockbuster auction for the IPL 2022 took place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13, and the ten-team league is set to begin next month.
Returning to his leadership options, the Mumbai Indians’ Twitter account had issued a request for names for an all-star IPL game. They had also pondered who would lead the two teams as captains. Harbhajan chose Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni as his leadership choices without hesitation since he has played with both of them. With five trophies, Rohit is the most successful IPL captain of all time, while Dhoni is second with four titles.
The Mumbai Indians have kept Rohit while the Chennai Super Kings have retained Dhoni, who is 40 years old, ahead of the IPL 2022 big auction. Both of these clubs have a sizable fan following in India, and an IPL all-star squad would undoubtedly include several players from these two franchises.
