Nida Dar, a colleague on the national team, has a tale that is very different from Aiman Anwer’s. Dar has always been a fan of cricket, but her brother never was. Anwer’s situation is unique. In actuality, her brother was the one who always encouraged her to participate in sports of any type. Anwer began playing cricket at an early age but never gave the sport much thought.
She was, nevertheless, always a standout player for her regional teams. Anwer, however, made the decision to discontinue playing cricket after being promoted to class 6 on her own. Cricket had never been a priority for her since she had always placed a strong emphasis on her schoolwork. Fortunately, a former cricket player who was a friend of her father pushed him to send her daughter to trials.
After a six-year hiatus, Anwer returned to cricket, but this time in a totally professional setting. She wasn’t much that interested in the game at first, but as they progressively acquired recognition for her skill with the ball, her career began to take shape around the 22 yard mark.
Childhood & Major Teams
Anwer was born in Karachi, Sind, on September 14, 1991. She has participated in matches for the Karachi Under-19 Women. She has also acted as a representative for PCB Blasters, PCB Challengers, Karachi Women, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited Women, and PCB Hawks.
Residential Career
T20 cricket is adored by Imran Khan’s ardent supporters. At the PCB National Under-19 Women’s Championship in 2010–11, she played her first T20 match. She took three key wickets while representing Karachi U-19s Women, conceding only 8 runs in 3.5 overs. The wickets were taken by Umm-e-Kaisoom, Saima Maqsood, and Rabia Liaqat.
She also represented Karachi Women in the 2014 Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah Women’s Cricket Championship Seniors. She bowled three overs during the opening game against Rawalpindi Women and struck out Azhra Farooq.
Worldwide Career
In July 2016, Anwer made her debut overseas. She bowled 3 overs during the match in Southampton against the England Women and gave up 24 runs. She also eliminated Tammy Beaumont. A few years later, she faced Bangladesh in Colombo for her first ODI. She bowled seven overs, allowing only 21 runs while dismissing Sharmin Akhter.
During the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in the West Indies, she saw an ICC event firsthand. Anwer’s performance in the next ICC Women’s World T20 2020 will be closely watched by Pakistan.
Statistics & Data
Anwer has played in 7 ODIs and taken 4 wickets in that time. The most astounding aspect of her economy rate is that it is below 4 runs per over. In T20Is, she also has a fantastic economy rate of sub 7 runs per over. She has made 16 T20I appearances and taken 14 wickets.
In addition, Anwer has 40 runs to his name in international cricket. Although she has never accumulated three wickets in an international game, she considers her outstanding performance against New Zealand, in which she got one wicket in six overs and allowed only 13 runs, to be her finest to date.
