After three seasons with Rajasthan Royals, Jofra Archer will play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL for the second time.
Jofra Archer, one of the most explosive bowlers, has missed a lot of international action since last year, but he hopes to join the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023. Despite reservations about Jofra Archer’s availability, the Mumbai Indians spent a lot of money for him. In the franchise, though, he will see a familiar face in Mahela Jayawardene. During the 2017 Bangladesh Premier League, Jofra and Mahela worked together at Khulna Titans.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started with MI — it’s a fantastic brand.” Mahela Jayawardene was one of my first coaches, and we have players like Polly (Pollard) – I’ve played against him before, but this will likely be the first time I play with him. “I’m expecting to start winning games and trophies soon,” Archer said on the social media accounts of the Mumbai Indians.
“MI seems to be a highly close-knit and family-oriented group, and such groups usually do well. It’s no surprise that we’ve won five championships. Polly has been there for ten years, Malinga has been there for a long time, and Rohit has also been there for a long time. When you join the squad as a new player, these things make you feel protected,” Jofra added.
After three seasons with the Rajasthan Royals, Jofra will play for MI for the second time in the IPL. The speedster believes that the move will provide him with an excellent chance to assess his current situation.
“A change of setting is beneficial because it allows you to push yourself.” It’s OK to perform in your comfort zone, but only when you move away and start performing in a new team, in a different situation, can you begin to rate yourself,” Jofra said.

Fast bowlers have long been seen to be an enraged lot who need to fuel that fire in order to achieve that terrifying speed. Of course, there are outliers, with Jasprit Bumrah being a prominent example, and Jofra being akin to ‘Boom.’
“As a fast bowler, I believe you must be cool because you must know when to step it up and when to tone it down.” I’m able to make better judgments when I’m relaxed. “You simply have to know when and when to utilise your variations,” he added, adding that bowling doesn’t alter much depending on the weather.
