The roster for the ODI series against Bangladesh was announced by Cricket South Africa (CSA), and it featured eight players from IPL franchises ahead of the forthcoming IPL 2022 season.
From March 18 to 23, a three-match One-Day International series will be held in Centurion and Johannesburg. The IPL season begins in only three days, and due to quarantine restrictions, some players may be forced to miss the first few games.
Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Marco Jansen are among the pacers, while Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, and all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius are among the hitters. When they arrive in India, they will be subjected to a mandated 3-day quarantine period.
If there is a bubble-to-bubble transfer to Mumbai, the BCCI is likely to reduce the time limit. Unfortunately for the Proteas, the Bangladesh series will be played in a’managed environment,’ which isn’t as rigorous as a bio-bubble.
From March 31 to April 12, there will be a two-match Test series after the ODI series. The players will choose whether to remain in the country and play for the national team or to finish their commitments with IPL clubs.
The ODI team will be captained by Temba Bavuma, with Keshav Maharaj serving as vice-captain. Anrich Nortje is still out of action, at least for the remainder of the ODI series.
