T20 WORLCUP : Wilson and Porterfield have been recruited to Ireland’s support staff for the T20 World Cup.

Gary Wilson and William Porterfield have joined Ireland’s support staff for the forthcoming Men’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Wilson has joined the squad in quarantine in Dubai, while Porterfield will join the squad today (September 28).

Wilson and Porterfield were both appointed as consultant coaches for the national team(s) earlier this year and were also included to the national route system. While Wilson has retired, Porterfield is still an active player, despite not having represented Ireland in the T20I format in over three years.

Ryan Eagleson, the T20 World Cup bowling coach, has also flown out to Dubai today after successfully guiding Ireland’s Under-19 Men’s side to world cup qualifying in Spain. On arrival in Dubai, all coaches, like the players, will be subjected to a six-day obligatory hotel quarantine.
