Rahul Tripathi, 31, is overjoyed to be joining Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the 2022 IPL season. In the IPL 2022 super auction conducted last month in Bengaluru, he was purchased by the franchise for INR 8.50 crores.
Before CSK and SRH faced one other, Tripathi drew a lot of attention at the auction. CSK eventually gave up, and Tripathi will now represent the orange army. The right-hander sees it as a fresh challenge and is ready to take on whatever is thrown at him.
“It’s a fresh start. I’m really looking forward to donning the orange jersey. For myself and every player, the IPL has been a fantastic platform. I had the opportunity to mingle with top-class athletes from all around the globe.
“This platform has allowed me to elevate my game to a new level,” Tripathi stated in an exclusive interview with the Times of India.
“I’m aiming to make an impression on the selectors this season.” Rahul Tripathi (Rahul Tripathi)
Tripathi is yet to play international cricket and hopes to use the IPL as a springboard to get the attention of selectors. Tripathi knows he has a long way to go since the Indian middle-order is loaded, but it doesn’t stop him.
“The IPL has helped certain players make it to the Indian team, and I am looking forward to doing the same.” I’m ecstatic to be joining the Sunrisers Hyderabad. I’ll do my best to meet your expectations. I shall continue to contribute everything I have. In the next season, I’m expecting to impress the (national) selections.”
“The SRH team seems to be in good shape. Kane (Williamson) is a fantastic player who also happens to be one of the finest captains in the world. He is a person that is always calm and performs an excellent job.
“We have a fantastic group, and I am certain Kane can lead SRH to victory.” In any position, I am ready to bat. If Kane wants me to open, I’ll do so, and if he asks me to bat in the middle, I’ll do so as well,” Tripathi said.
The IPL 2022 season will get off on March 26, with the league phase taking place at four sites throughout Mumbai and Pune.
