CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
The four-time champions’ season hasn’t gotten off to the greatest of beginnings after being trounced by the Gujarat Titans in the season’s opening game on Saturday. Yet, the Yellow Brigade will be trying to make things right as they head back to their fort.
The squad will be counting on Ruturaj Gaikwad to replicate his performance from the first game, when he played a blazing knock of 92 runs off 50 deliveries. He was in excellent form. To relieve some of the strain, he will need assistance from the other batters in the top of the order.
Devon Conway must perform in this situation despite having some outstanding T20 credentials. Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, and Ambati Rayudu make up the CSK’s potent middle order, and MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja will once more serve as the team’s finishers.
Speaking of bowling, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, who recently had a strong performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, appears to have taken his momentum into the IPL as well after picking up 3 wickets against the Titans. Tushar Deshpande and Deepak Chahar didn’t have the greatest of experiences in the middle, with the latter being caught for a lot of runs and the former failing to grab a wicket.
LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS
The Lucknow Super Giants made their IPL debut in the previous season and won everyone over with their outstanding group stage performance, placing third on the points table. They were quite unlucky, though, as they fell to RCB in the playoffs after a high-scoring game.
They did, however, start their most recent voyage off well, defeating the Delhi Capitals rather easily in their first game. The LSG will depend on its batters to win games for them because they have one of the greatest batting lineups this season, at least on paper.
Quinton de Kock won’t be available for the first few games, therefore Kyle Mayers and KL Rahul will be expected to lead the club to success. Rahul performed admirably the season before, scoring 616 runs and finishing as the second-highest run scorer in the competition. Kyle Mayers, who is playing in his first IPL game this year, impressed with a score of 73 off only 38 deliveries. He will be looking to repeat that performance today.
Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and Ayush Badoni are just a few of the many all-rounders the LSG boasts, and they will be relied upon to produce runs in the middle overs. Nicholas Pooran, who might be a key finisher, has received a 16 crore rupee investment from the squad. The faster bowlers performed a fantastic job in the last game, and Mark Wood stood out since he picked up a wicket in his first game for the LSG.
But, because the Chennai pitch is more suited for spinners, players like Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra are expected to be crucial.
