The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face off in the first encounter of the IPL 2022 season. Both teams have struggled in the Indian Premier League in recent seasons and will be hoping that the mega-auction will help them.
At first sight, it appears that SRH has more work to do in order to field a competitive playing eleven. Most of the finest IPL betting companies appear to agree with this judgement as well, as the Rajasthan Royals are the favourites in the odds.

SRH is perhaps the only IPL team with all of its players available from the start. After the auction, SRH’s team management received a lot of flak for making several seemingly unusual actions, and Simon Katich departed the management after his auction strategy was not implemented.
Nonetheless, we believe they have put together a strong lineup.
SRH’s top four should be Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi, Kane Williamson, and Nicholas Pooran. This is an excellent batting lineup, with plenty of power and T20 experience. Rahul Tripathi is one of the more underappreciated players in the IPL, but he continues to prove his worth as a member of the playing eleven year after year.
Abdul Samad, Washington Sundar, and Romario Shepherd make up the middle of the order.
We’re not sure if Samad and Sundar have done enough to be deemed first-class middle-order hitters in the IPL, but Romario Shepherd is one of the most interesting picks in this year’s auction.
Shepherd gives the team a true six-hitting option as well as a very excellent death bowler.
Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi, and Bhuvenshwar Kumar round out SRH’s fast-bowling attack. The spin bowling options are limited, thus Shreyas Gopal is expected to start the first match.
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
For this encounter, Rajasthan Royals have all of their players available for selection. The Royals have decided to invest in a slew of bright young players, a plan that has previously paid off for the Delhi Capitals.
Their opening combination is Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal. These are two exceptionally skilled batsmen who have previously performed well in the IPL. As bettors, you must consider whether clubs would have worked them out or if players would have progressed between seasons.
Rajasthan Royals have a stronger batting lineup with Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and maybe Shimron Hetmyer in the lineup. The conditions in Pune, on the other hand, could be more spin-friendly, putting their big hitters to the test.
That brings us to their significant edge over SRH in this match. Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin should both be in the playing eleven, providing the Royals a superb spin duo.
