Recently, the competition for the top slot in the ICC men’s T20 batting order has been quite interesting. Mohammad Rizwan defeated Babar Azam to claim the top place in the most recent rankings, which were made public on Wednesday. Suryakumar Yadav of India has dropped to fourth place on the list while Aiden Markram of South Africa has risen to the third spot.
It’s been incredibly exciting to see the competition for first place, particularly during the Asia Cup. Even Suryakumar was among the early favourites to win the competition. However, things did not go as expected since he dropped to fourth place on the list. It was said to be mostly a fight between Babar and Suryakumar just before the Asia Cup.
Rizwan’s outstanding innings have earned him the #1 rank, justly so. In three games of the current Asia Cup, he has scored 192 runs. His lowest score so far, in three games, is 43. With scores of 71 and 78 not out in his past two matches against India and Hong Kong, respectively, he has moved up to the top spot.
Rizwan now has 815 points. Markaram has 792 points, while Babar has 794. With 775 on his kitty, Suryakumar.
For the Pakistani captain, things with Babar have been very flat. In the Asia Cup, he has recorded scores of 14, 9, and 10, which has not improved his situation. Although Suryakumar had higher scores with 68, 13 and 34, Rizwan had defeated both Suryakumar and Babar.
Markaram has really surpassed the Indian in every way. The player from South Africa has even passed Suryakumar. The rankings, however, are dynamic and subject to alter within a day. So, the next few days will be intriguing.
Surya is the top-ranked Indian hitter in terms of rankings. Rohit Sharma is now at position 14, having climbed three spots. Following his 0 in the most recent match against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli sits in 29th place.
