Rishabh Pant and Khaleel Ahmed have played cricket together and began their careers practically at the same time, according to Khaleel Ahmed.
The Delhi Capitals have been one of the favourites in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the previous three seasons. This time, though, nothing has changed. Despite qualifying for the playoffs three times in a row, Delhi has yet to win the IPL championship. Khaleel Ahmed, a left-arm fast bowler who returned to the Capitals this year after four seasons with Sunrisers Hyderabad, believes that captain Rishabh Pant will break the side’s championship drought this year.
Khaleel informed the Times of India that he is quite familiar with Pant, since the two had played cricket together and begun their careers virtually simultaneously. Khaleel believes the Delhi Capitals will win their first championship this season, describing Pant as a “great skipper.”
“Rishabh is a gifted captain who has performed well for Delhi. “I am certain that Rishabh will lead Delhi to their first trophy,” he remarked.
Khaleel was purchased for Rs 5.25 crore in the super auction by Delhi Capitals. Pant was Khaleel’s partner at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, so he is familiar with the southpaw’s thinking and has a strong connection with him.
Coming back to Delhi Capitals, where he began his IPL career, is like returning home, according to Khaleel. Along with reuniting with Pant, Khaleel is excited to see his former captain David Warner, who has also relocated to Delhi as part of the huge auction.
Khaleel said that he had a strong relationship with Warner during his time in the Hyderabad camp and that it would be a pleasure to reunite with him. The 25-year-old suggested that he may be able to assist the Australian in creating Instagram Reels.
Pant-led The Delhi Capitals got off to a winning start in the IPL 2022 season, defeating the 5-time champion Mumbai Indians by four wickets. On April 2, they will face the Gujarat Titans, a newcomer to the league.
