Muralikrishna Prasidh Krishna is an uncapped fast bowler who made his First-class debut by picking up a five-fer against an International team. The tall, lanky pace bowler from Karnataka has received a lot of acclaim and is considered one of the up-and-coming stars of Indian cricket.
Career
Domestic career
When Bangladesh A came to tour the country in 2015, Prasidh Krishna shot to fame. Prasidh Krishna got his first taste of top-flight cricket when playing for India’s eastern neighbour against the Ranji Trophy champions of Karnataka. He dismissed Rony Talukdar with his first ball, then went on to dismiss Anamul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, and Nasir Hossain in his first spell to reduce Bangladesh A to 41/5. Karnataka eventually won by four wickets. He was just 19 years old when he took 5 wickets against a solid batting line-up.
Krishna assembled his To-Do List. On February 25, 2017, he made his debut for Karnataka in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, and has since played in two Vijay Hazare Trophies. In the second one, he was the second-highest wicket-taker.
He was one of the ten best fast bowlers outside the national team who were mentored by Rahul Dravid and Paras Mhambrey at India A in August 2018. Krishna was named in the India A cricket team for the 2018 A-team Quadrangular Series in the same month as a result of his efforts.
IPL Career
It wouldn’t be exaggerating to suggest that injuries to other players helped the lanky pacer to take advantage of the IPL opportunities. Krishan was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 as a Kamlesh Nagarkoti injury replacement. Krishna, a Karnataka native, made his debut after another young pacer, Shivam Mavi, was injured and Dinesh Karthik chose Krishna to fill in for him. So far, he has 14 wickets at a strike rate of 29 and an economy rate of 9.32 in 18 matches. These figures aren’t completely persuasive, but Prasidh has improved dramatically over the last two seasons.
Background
Krishna’s association with the game began when he was a student at Carmel School in Padmanabhanagar, where he joined his school team under the supervision of Srinivas Murthy. Prasidh admitted to being a sports fan since he was a boy. Prasidh’s mother was a former national-level volleyball player, so athletics are in his veins.
Virat Kohli, India’s captain, described Prasidh as a “surprise kit” for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in January. With the tournament postponed and the IPL season approaching, Krishna now has the chance to impress Indian captain Virat Kohli and earn a place in the Indian squad when the time comes.
