Domestic Career
It takes a lot of courage for a 16-year-old cricketer to make the Under-19 team at the World Cup. Despite being the second youngest player in the Indian team, Mahipal Lomror seemed to love himself on the big stage and was one of India’s best performers in the tournament.
Lomror was the greatest Indian all-rounder by a long shot, putting in consistent performances with both the bat and the ball. Lomror batted five innings and scored 133 runs for an average of 33.25 and a strike rate of 100.75. Rajasthan’s young talent also took 7 wickets in 6 games, with an excellent average of 18.85 and an economy rate of 3.75.
The southpaw scored 45 points and had 5/47 bowling figures in the match against New Zealand U-19. He was the tournament’s only Indian bowler with a five-wicket haul. In the quarterfinal against Namibia U-19, Lomror’s 21-ball 41 helped India post a big total of 349 in 50 overs. After featuring in the World Cup, he made his first-class debut for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy on October 6, 2016. On 30 January 2017, he made his Twenty20 debut for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament. On February 25, 2017, he made his List A debut for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
His best result came in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, when he was Rajasthan’s joint-leading wicket-taker with 13 dismissals in six matches. He was called to the India Red team’s squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy in August 2019.
IPL Career
The Delhi Daredevils snatched Lomror for ten lakh in the 2016 IPL auction, two months after his heroics in the U19 World Cup. At the 2018 auctions, he was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals and played in a few games that season, but he didn’t get much of a chance to show off any of his talents. Rajasthan Royals have kept the youngster for the IPL 2020 season, despite his presence in just two games in IPL 2019.

Mahipal Lomror is from Nagaur, a small town in Rajasthan. His life began with a modest beginning, when his father works as a clerk for the government. His hometown’s facilities are anything but inspirational, and aspiring cricketers must make do with subpar facilities. Lomror has never been held down by a shortage of money, and has soared to the pinnacle of the cricketing world. Ex Indian cricketer and Mumbai coach Chandrakant Pandit gave him the nickname “Junior Chris Gayle.”
