jaydev Unadkat is an Indian cricketer who was born in Porbandar, Gujarat, on October 18, 1991. He is a member of the Saurashtra and Indian cricket teams.
He is a medium pace left-arm bowler. He is one of the Indian team’s emerging stars, with the potential to take early wickets.
Background
In 2009, he graduated from St Mary’s School and went on to the Duleep Cricket School in Porbandar, where he impressed coach Ram Odedra.
In 2010, he represented India in the U-19 ICC Cricket World Cup, where he took seven wickets in four matches. In the same year, he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Saurashtra.
He was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2010 Indian Premier League due to his outstanding performances, and he received special praise from the team’s bowling coach, Wasim Akram.
In June 2010, he was picked for an India A match and made an impressive debut against the West Indies at Grace Road, taking 13 wickets for 103 runs.
Debut
He was called up to the Indian squad for the Test series against South Africa in 2010. He struggled to take a single wicket in the test and was then dropped for the following match. After that, he returned to play first-class cricket for Saurashtra.
In 2013, he made his One-Day International debut against Zimbabwe, taking eight wickets in five matches with the best figures of 4/41. In 2016, he made his T20 debut against Zimbabwe in Harare.
Rise to glory
He turned in impressive first-class results, gaining him a place in the Indian Test squad. He has 181 first-class wickets to his credit, including seven five-wicket hauls.
Owing to the high level of competition and his inconsistent form, he was given very little time in the Indian team. He has only played 12 international matches in all, in all formats, and has only taken 12 wickets.
Club Career
He was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2013 IPL after representing KKR in the 2011-12 IPL, where he had a career-best 5/25 against Delhi Daredevils.
He was chosen by the Delhi Daredevils committee for Rs. 2.8 crores in the 2014 IPL.
In the 2016 IPL, he returned to Kolkata, and in 2017, he was selected by the Rising Pune Supergiants. He hit a hat-trick in the final over of the IPL against Hyderabad.
He was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 11.5 crores for the upcoming 2018 edition of the IPL, making him the most expensive Indian cricketer in the auction.
