Mustafizur Rahman is a Bangladeshi left-arm medium bowler. The “Fizz,” who was born on September 6, 1995, is the first cricketer to receive Man of the Match awards on both his ODI and Test debuts.
Rahman began his cricket practise at a position 40 kilometres from his house. He began his career as a batsman before moving to pace bowling after being influenced by Mohammad Amir.
The Bangladeshi player began his professional career with Khulna Division and Abahani Limited in Bangladesh. He took 26 wickets at an average of 19.08 in the first-class season. After scouts discovered his talent, he was welcomed into the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s pace bowling base.
Rahman took eight wickets in the 2014 U19 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Debut
On April 24, 2015, the “Fizz,” as he is affectionately known due to his many combinations, made his T20 debut against Pakistan. He bowled four overs at a remarkable economy rate of just 5.00, picking up two vital wickets in the Tigers’ seven-wicket victory.
The pacer made an impressive debut against India in the ODI series less than two months back. He took 13 wickets in the series, including two fifers, to set a new record for the most wickets by a debutant in a bilateral series.
Rise to Glory
Mustafizur continued to make progress throughout his international career. After just a few games, he had established himself as an important member of the squad, as he began to pile up wickets against South Africa and Zimbabwe, both of which ended in victories.
Rahman also invented the left-arm off-cutter, which bowled like a spinner but had enough wings to hit the keeper on the whole. Batsmen struggled to pick his slower deliveries due to his differences, making him a tough customer.
Mustafizur Ahmed bamboozled the Black Caps with his combinations during the 2016 T20 World Cup in India, picking up a fifer for just 22 runs.
For his accomplishments in the format, he was named to the ICC ODI Team of the Year in 2015, and he also won the ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year.
Club Career
In the 2016 auctions, the fast bowler earned an Indian Premier League deal at the age of 21. He was bought for Rs. 1.4 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He outperformed expectations by taking 17 wickets in 16 games and leading the team to victory. He was also dubbed the tournament’s “Emerging Player.”
Rahman also signed with Sussex to appear in the Natwest T20 Blast in March 2016. He took four wickets in his first game, but due to a shoulder injury, he was ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
