Naman Ojha is an Indian cricketer who was born in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on July 20, 1983. He is a wicket-keeper and a right-handed batsman.
He spent the bulk of his career in a period when Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s greatness stopped any other wicket-keeper batsman from making the Indian cricket team.
Background
In the 2000-01 season, Ojha made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh. He had more success in the limited overs format because of his exuberant batting style. In the 2008 Challenger Trophy, he scored 96 runs for India Gold.
In the second season of the Indian Premier League in 2009, Rajasthan Royals chose Ojha. In the 2010 season, when chasing 247, he shattered a brilliant 94 against Chennai Super Kings.
Debut and Afterwards
In a Tri-Nation Series against Zimbabwe in 2010, Ojha made his ODI debut for India when most of the senior players, including Mahendra Singh Dhoni, were resting. In that match, his only ODI to date, he was dismissed for 1 run.
In the domestic circuit, he managed to score runs. He has a total of 7,866 runs in 113 first-class matches, including 19 hundreds. In his 100th first-class game, he scored hundreds in both innings for India A against Australia A in Brisbane.
He played his only test in 2015, five years after making his ODI debut. He scored 21 and 35 runs in the first and second innings of the match against Sri Lanka, respectively.
Club Career
In the Indian Premier League, Ojha has played for teams such as Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Daredevils, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the Sunrisers’ 2016 IPL win, he was medicinal.
