Australian opener Usman Khawaja had to miss his flight to India on Wednesday due to visa delays.

The Pakistani-born hitter has played his 56 Tests, 40 his ODIs and 9 his T20s for Australia. The 36-year-old also competed in the 2016 IPL. On Monday, he was named Australia’s Test Player of the Year, an award named after the legendary Shane Warne.

The Australian will conduct his four-day training camp on the outskirts of Bangalore before moving to Nagpur for the first test, which starts on 9 February. Other venues are Delhi, Dharamsala and Ahmedabad.

Both teams are running to reach the finals of the Test World Championship. Australia have opted out of a tour match in India ahead of an important series and hope the practice match surface will be very different from the four Tests.
