Abdur Razzak, a slow left-arm orthodox bowler from Bangladesh, was born on June 15, 1982 in Khulna.
He is widely considered as one of Bangladesh’s greatest bowlers.
Early Life
He proved his durability for Victoria sporting club in the Dhaka Premier Division since his domestic debut. In 2004, he played a key role in Bangladesh’s clean sweep of Zimbabwe in a five-match ODI series.
In the season, he took 15 wickets, including 7 for 17 in a game in Dhaka.
Debut
In 2006, he made his Test debut against Australia in Darwin, but he did not impress.
In his ODI debut against Hong Kong in Colombo in 2004, he had a much better result, taking three wickets.
In 2006, he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in Khulna.
Rise to Glory
Razzak made his debut for Bangladesh in the 2004 Asia Cup One-Day International tournament.
In January 2018, he became the first Bangladeshi player to take 500 first-class wickets, which is a significant accomplishment in and of itself.
Low Points
In 2008, an independent research team found that his arm bends 28 degrees when bowling, whereas the acceptable degree is just 14-15 degrees. This was the low point of his career. He was suspended as a result of this.
Razzak’s Record in Numbers
Razzak took 5 wickets in the third One-Day International against Sri Lanka, becoming the first Bangladeshi bowler to cross 200 ODI wickets.
He also holds the distinction for being the first Bangladeshi batsman to reach fifty runs.
