Taskin Ahmed Bio

Taskin Ahmed Tazin is a Bangladeshi cricketer who was born in Dhaka on April 3, 1995. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-handed fast bowler who mainly acts as his team’s fast bowler. His 148 kmph delivery is the highest by a Bangladeshi cricketer in an official international cricket match.

Debut

Taskin Ahmed made his Test debut against New Zealand in Wellington on January 12, 2017. He only took one wicket in the match, which New Zealand won by seven wickets.

On 17 June 2014, Taskin made his ODI debut against India in Dhaka, where he took 5 wickets for 28 runs in 8 overs. Despite India’s 47-run win, Taskin was hailed for his excellent performance in his first match.

On 1 April 2014, Taskin made his T20I debut against Australia at his home ground of Dhaka, taking the wicket of Glenn Maxwell. Australia, on the other side, won the match by 7 wickets.

Rise to Glory

As Taskin Ahmed was called in to replace Mashrafe Mortaza against Australia, he shot to notoriety. He took advantage of the situation and fired Glenn Maxwell with a fine delivery. Chittagong Vikings signed him for the Bangladesh Premier League, where he displayed his excellent bowling ability and went on to become one of his team’s most important bowlers over the years.

Low Points

Taskin Ahmed was injured during the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League season and had to spend the whole season recovering. He was also barred from bowling in the 2016 ICC World T20 for improper conduct, but he defied the odds each time and is now a regular member of Bangladesh’s national team.

Club Career

Taskin Ahmed began his career as a member of the Chittagong Kings franchise in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he took 8 wickets in four matches during the 2013 season. His best bowling figures against Duronto Rajshahi were 4/31.

Taskin Ahmed was a member of the Chittagong Vikings in the Bangladesh Premier League in 2016, where he took four wickets at an average of 53.25 in seven games. Taskin Ahmed improved his results the next season, taking 15 wickets in 11 matches for Chittagong Vikings in the Bangladesh Premier League in 2017. That season, he also took 5 wickets in a match against the Sylhet Sixers.

Taskin Ahmed returned to Chittagong Vikings for the 2018 season, taking 14 wickets in 11 matches with a bowling average of 23.92 and conceding 335 runs in the process. He played for Sylhet Sixers in the 2019 season and took 22 wickets in 12 matches, making him the top wicket taker in the tournament.
