In a match against defending champions Mumbai Indians in Delhi on Saturday, Ambati Rayudu was at his explosive peak, scoring the joint second-fastest half-century of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. As Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted a mammoth 218/4 from their allocated 20 overs, Rayudu reached his 50 off just 20 balls and remained unbeaten on 72. During his 27-ball at-bat, Rayudu hit the fence seven times, one of which broke the fridge door in the Mumbai Indians dugout. Rohit Sharma had previously won the toss and welcomed CSK to bat. The three-time champions got off to a bad start when in-form batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for four runs. Following that, Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali put together a century partnership and scored openly, laying the groundwork for a massive number. Both batsmen reached half-centuries, but Mumbai Indians lost three wickets in a row to take the game down.
Rayudu, on the other hand, spoiled their fun with his incredible striking, assisting CSK in setting a huge goal for the five-time champions. With Rayudu going all out from one end, Ravindra Jadeja, who single-handedly led his team to victory over RCB, played a fine second fiddle and scored an undefeated run-a-ball 22.
Kieron Pollard took two wickets for 12 runs in two overs for the Mumbai Indians, while Bumrah and Trent Boult both took one wicket.
