The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in the UAE and Oman in only a few months, and cricket fans are already looking forward to seeing the competition after five years. West Indies are the defending winners of the tournament, having won it in 2016. They will be the favourites to win it again this year.
Sri Lanka, the 2014 World Cup champions, have suffered a huge setback in international cricket and will compete in the World T20 qualifiers to advance to the T20 World Cup league rounds. He is a very useful batsman down the order and can hit some lusty blows at the back end which he showed in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He bowled a lot of dots this year and picked up a lot of wickets in IPL making him a strong contender for the MVP player of the tournament from Australia.
South Africa – Quinton De Kock
Quinton De Kock is the most consistent batsman from the South African side and he will be very keen to have a good tournament. The left-hander is an aggressive batsman at the top and he can take the game away from the opponents very quickly. He is also very quick with his wicket-keeping which will add to his MVP points for each catch and he will be a good prospect for the MVP player of the tournament from the Proteas side.
Pakistan – Babar Azam
Babar Azam is one of the best batsmen in the world at all formats and he is currently ranked second in the ICC T20I rankings which shows his ability to score consistently.
The Pakistan skipper has achieved a feat despite being very young — and still has a long way to go in his career. The right-hander will be the automatic choice for the MVP player of the tournament from Pakistan considering his records already.
India – Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli was the player of the tournament in the last T20 World Cups in 2014 and 2016 and he is certainly a match-winner with the bat. Kohli’s performance is of the highest order in big tournaments and he is expected to dominate the T20 World Cup 2021 despite going through a slight slump in form in recent years. Despite all, he will be the best bet for the MVP player for the tournament from all countries.
New Zealand – Trent Boult
New Zealand does have a lot of match-winners on their side, but their bowling department will rely on their trump card Trent Boult. The left-arm seamer is excellent in the powerplay and he can hit the yorkers consistently at the death overs as well. He can change a match very quickly and he will be key to the plans of New Zealand for the T20 World Cup. With his wicket-taking abilities, he can certainly be the MVP player of the tournament.
England – Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler is one of the T20 players in the world going around with his ability to play on all sides of the field. The right-hander is a clean hitter of the cricket ball who can play those extravagant shots over the wicket keeper’s head. Opening the innings will be a great advantage to use the powerplay and he is expected to be the MVP Player of the tournament from England.
