Today Match Prediction : Sean Williams retires from international cricket

Sean Williams, Zimbabwe’s Test captain, has reportedly chosen to retire after the current tour of Ireland. Williams informed the team management of his plans.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the 34-year-old cited biobubble fatigue, an unclear future, and discontent with the state of cricket in Zimbabwe as reasons behind his decision.

Williams has previously sought a mental health sabbatical and will not be considered for the five T20Is in Ireland and Scotland but will be available for the three ODIs following the T20Is.

He didn’t fly with the Zimbabwe squad to Ireland and arrived on Wednesday, six days later.

Williams debuted for Zimbabwe in 2005 and has played 14 Tests, 136 ODIs, and 47 T20Is. He has amassed 5,937 runs in various formats, including 8 centuries and 41 half-centuries.

He has also captured 125 wickets for his country.

His batting has improved since becoming Zimbabwe’s Test captain, where he has struck three of his four hundreds.

Craig Ervine will captain Zimbabwe during their ODIs in Ireland and Scotland. Chamu Chibhabha, Brendan Taylor, Sikandar Raza, and Sean Williams have all led them since the start of 2020.
