Today’s IPL Match Prediction : Sri Lanka Cricket Is Set To Host IPL 2022, According To Reports

Sri Lanka Cricket, according to certain reports, is ready to host the IPL 2022. The BCCI is seeking for new venues to host the Indian Premier League’s 15th edition. Due to the rising Covid-19 pandemic in the country, the BCCI is considering South Africa and Sri Lanka as alternatives.

Due of the COVID-19 outbreak in India, the last two editions of the IPL were held in the United Arab Emirates. The IPL 2021 season began in India. However, after some players tested positive for COVID midway through the tournament, BCCI was forced to postpone the event. In September-October, the competition was finished in the United Arab Emirates.

Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohan de Silva told Cricbuzz that the SLC will soon begin talks with the BCCI about hosting the IPL 2022 in their country. He also stated that the Sri Lankan Board of Directors would be delighted to host the IPL in their country.

“We’ve seen reports, and we’ll be delighted to host the IPL in Sri Lanka,” he said. We’ll start talking to the BCCI about it as soon as possible. The Covid situation in Sri Lanka is not bad, and you can rest confident that we will be welcoming hosts,” said SLC secretary Mohan de Silva.

The introduction of the novel COVID variant Omicron has resulted in an increase in COVID cases in India. Every day, thousands of new instances arrive, and the government is taking steps to address the problem.

IPL 2022 is currently in the planning stages. This year’s tournament will feature a total of ten teams, as two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, have been added to the mix. On the 12th and 13th of February, a mega auction will be held. Bengaluru will host the mammoth auction.

The old eight teams kept a total of 27 players in their lineup. There are 19 domestic and 8 international players in this group. The two new franchises can each select three players from the pool of released players ahead of the auction. This process has a deadline of January 22. TATA Group, for example, is the tournament’s newest sponsor.
