Mohammed Shami, an Indian fast bowler, is not a first-choice speed bowler in the shortest version of the game. According to sources, selectors may consider him for the T20 World Cup this year in Australia based on his performance in the next IPL 2022 season.
Shami hasn’t featured for India in a white-ball match since the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year. He has only appeared in Test matches, suggesting that he is unlikely to be called up to the white-ball squad on a regular basis.

“In ODIs, he’s in a lot better position. “However, he realises that this IPL would be a form of trial for him to be considered for the T20 World Cup,” the source said.
“With Shardul and Deepak, the batting line-up is lengthened, allowing the top order to go hard from the start.” In Test cricket, Shami is a great asset. “The squad would want him to be fresh for the remainder of the World Test Championship,” the insider concluded.
At the IPL 2022 super auction, Shami drew a lot of attention before ultimately going to Gujarat Titans (GT) for a winning price of INR 6.25 crores.
