Shamilia Connell, a fast bowler for the West Indies women’s cricket team, slumped on the pitch during an ICC Women’s World Cup match between West Indies and Bangladesh at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Friday.
Deandra Dottin was about to bowl her last ball of the over during Bangladesh’s 47th over when all of her teammates hurried towards Connell, who was positioned around midwicket, and the team medical professionals came on the field to assess the player’s health.

Connell was seen gripping her stomach and slowly rising to her feet before boarding a tiny ambulance and being brought to a hospital, according to New Zealand pundit Simon Doull on TV.
After Connell left the stadium, the action began, and West Indies bowled Bangladesh out for 136 in 49.3 overs to win by four runs in a thrilling encounter. Connell is stable, according to West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor, and the medical crew is with her.

Earlier, Shermaine Campbell’s undefeated 53 in the first innings helped the side record a respectable total of 140 after being reduced to 102/8 in 44 overs.
The West Indies will meet Pakistan, headed by Bismah Maroof, in their next encounter on March 21 at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
