Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the defending Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, will have a difficult road ahead of them as they attempt to defend their championship in the 2019 season. Last month, the MS Dhoni-led club purchased a slew of players in the IPL auctions, and one youngster who has attracted the captain’s attention is Shivam Dube.
The Mumbai-based athlete was purchased for a substantial sum of 4 crore rupees and is regarded as an important addition to the club. He discussed how CSK was able to get his signing despite a number of clubs bidding for him ahead of the upcoming season.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Punjab King (PBKS), and his previous side Rajasthan Royals were all in a bidding battle for the 28-year-old (RR). However, it was CSK, the four-time winners, who were able to get this signature.
Before joining RR for the 2021 season, Dube was a member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team. CSK spent a large fee for the player, who has also represented India at the international level.
The year 2022 has been fortunate for the left-handed hitter, who was not only selected by CSK but also bestowed with a newborn boy during the same week as the auctions. On Saturday (March 26), CSK will open season 15 of the IPL against two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Dube, on the other hand, would be pressed to assist the club win another IPL trophy in order to tie Mumbai Indians for the most IPL titles won.
