Domestic Career
The 20-year-old has yet to play in a first-class match, but he made headlines in 2018 when he hit 298 off 301 balls, including 29 boundaries and 13 sixes, in an Under-23 district tournament. He was highly regarded as a hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman who led India to victory in the Under-19 Asia Cup last year.
IPL Career
The Patiala-based wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh was one of the stars of the player auctions leading up to IPL 2019; he fetched a whopping INR 4.8 crore and was finally signed by Kings XI Punjab. During the 2019 season, he mainly sat on the bench and only featured in one game, but the dasher is positive about his prospects in the upcoming 2020 season.
Background
During Singh’s time at the National Cricket Academy, former India wicketkeeper Kiran More was blown away by his abilities. He is the cousin brother of Anmolpreet Singh, a Punjab Ranji cricketer who was signed by Mumbai Indians for INR 80 lakhs. In fact, the two cousins shared a 239-run partnership in the game, which Prabhsimran won with a near-triple hundred. Virender Sehwag is his idol, but as a keeper-batsman, no one beats Adam Gilchrist for the 17-year-old.
