Steve Smith, the latest addition to IPL franchise Delhi Capitals, arrived in Mumbai ahead of IPL 2021. On their social media pages, the franchise shared a photo of the former Australian captain taken at Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Hotel. After being released by the 2008 champions, Rajasthan Royals, after IPL 2020, Smith was signed by Delhi Capitals for INR 2.2 crore. Smith will join a team that finished second in the IPL last season, narrowly missing out on their first title to eventual winners Mumbai Indians.

The DC Comics franchise shared a photo with the caption: “In one frame, there are two monumental symbols. Thank you for joining the DC family. @tajmahalmumbai #YehHaiNayiDilli @steve smith49”

After regular captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the IPL 2021 due to a shoulder injury sustained during the India vs England ODI series, the Australian star will be playing under DC’s new skipper Rishabh Pant.

Despite the fact that Smith hit 311 runs in 14 games last season, averaging 25.91 runs per game and striking out at a pace of 131.22, his leadership skills were put to the test as RR finished last in the points standings.

Over the course of the league season, they had eight losses and six victories, totaling just 12 points.
