The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who made several significant acquisitions at the IPL auction, had a strong inaugural season. They will play the Delhi Capitals to open the IPL 2023 season. Although the departure of Rishab Pant is significant, the Delhi Capitals (DC) still have several players that are of the highest calibre on their roster.

Mohsin Khan is unlikely to be available for selection by LSG. Although he hasn’t played any cricket since the last IPL, Jaydev Unadkat will likely take his position in the starting lineup. Nicholas Pooran, who has occasionally performed well but hasn’t been quite steady enough in the IPL, is their greatest signing. The success of their season may depend on LSG’s ability to bring out the best in him.
KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock at the top make LSG’s opening unit unquestionably powerful. The other players who make up the batting unit are most likely to be Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, and Krunal Pandya. Ayush Badoni’s durability at this level is still up for debate, and Krunal Pandya’s batting ability has declined.
Mark Wood joining the team means that the bowling lineup will be extremely competitive. Avesh Khan, Jaydev Unadkat, and Ravi Bishnoi will be with him. Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis are other reliable bowling choices. It will be exceedingly difficult to silence a potent DC batting lineup because many LSG players have poor economy rates.
DELHI CAPITALS
Everyone would agree that David Warner is one of the greatest hitters in IPL history, and DC has selected him as their captain. Is he still a power that must be feared? He will have something to prove, as we believe he is. He teams up with Prithvi Shaw, who is a top-notch shooter and capable of repelling any onslaught on his day.
Rishab Pant’s absence could require DC to adjust the team’s composition. Rilee Rossouw might be replaced by Sarfaraz Khan or Phil Salt, who could potentially bat in the top three positions (more likely). Manish Pandey or Yash Dhull might then be added by DC to the batting order.
Rovman Powell is a crucial middle-order striker to have, while Mitchell Marsh is in excellent form and should make the starting eleven. At number seven, Axar Patel, who has been in strong batting form, would be very helpful.
