RAJASTHAN ROYALS
In their first game, the Rajasthan Royals were rather dominant, crushing the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 72 runs. They have a fantastic NRR and are at the top of the points standings as a result of the significant win.
Yet, the competition is still in its early stages, so the Royals will need to gain momentum.
Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rajasthan’s tried-and-true opening combination, got things going once more, and they didn’t let anybody down as they set up an 85-run partnership in just under 6 overs. The hard-hitting top-order helped Rajasthan surpass the 100-run threshold in only 7.4 overs, which was the fastest in their IPL history. Sanju Samson was as dependable as ever at number three.
The middle order wasn’t in the greatest of forms, and will be aiming to play better today even though Samson, Buttler, and Yashasvi went on to hit individual half-centuries. It will be fascinating to see how Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmeyer, and Riyan Parag bat here since they are all capable of playing the big shots.
In the first game, the Royals’ bowling was excellent. Trent Boult had an outstanding first over, taking 2 wickets to put the pursuit on hold right away, then Yuzuvendra Chahal took 4 wickets to trouble the middle order. The Royals’ confidence will increase after this impressive win.
PUNJAB KINGS
The Kings have started their season off winning, much like the Royals, albeit using the DLS system.
In his first complete season leading the Kings, Shikhar Dhawan scored a respectable 40 runs at the top of the order, while opening partner Prabhsimran Singh scored a quick 23.
The pair will attempt to get the squad off to a strong start once more. Bhanuka Rajapaksa displayed strong play to record his first IPL half-century and will aim to duplicate that effort tonight. When compared to the Royals, the middle order appears to be a little weak since players like Jitesh Sharma, Sam Curran, and Sikandar Raza struggle to bat consistently.
Shahrukh Khan and Harpreet Brar’s presence, though, does add some depth to the batting. Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, and Nathan Ellis make form the Kings’ potent pace assault. Throughout the last year, Arshdeep has performed admirably when bowling for his country. He was also pretty outstanding in the opening game when he took 3 wickets.
