Mohammad Shahzad Bio

Mohammad Shahzad Mohammadi is an Afghan cricketer who plays for the Men’s National Cricket Team of Afghanistan in international cricket. For the Afghanistan team, Shahzad opens the batting and holds the wickets. Mohammad Shahzad Mohammadi was born in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, on January 31, 1988.

International Career

In 2008, Shahzad was a key figure in Afghanistan’s efforts, helping the Afghan National Cricket Team qualify for the 2009 Cricket World Cup Qualifier in South Africa. With his good results in the tournament, he took the lead. Afghanistan was granted One Day International status as a result of his efforts. On August 30, 2009, Shahzad made his ODI debut at VRA Cricket Ground against the Netherlands. Shahzad made his Twenty20 International debut against Ireland in February 2010.

In May 2018, Shahzad was one of the eleven members of Afghanistan’s squad for their first Test match against India.

Domestic Career

Shahzad, despite being an important member of Afghanistan’s national team, has never played any top-level domestic cricket in Afghanistan. In the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, he has only played two matches, all in the 2015–16 season. He was the Band-e-Amir Dragons’ captain. In the 2018 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Provincial One Day Tournament, Shahzad captained the Spin Ghar Tigers.

Mohammad Shahzad Mohammadi was selected to Afghanistan’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April of this year.
