Shadab Khan has been ruled out of the South African and Zimbabwean tours due to a toe injury.

After sustaining a left toe fracture, Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has been ruled out of the South Africa and Zimbabwe series. Shadab sustained the injury while batting against South Africa in the second One-Day International on Sunday. He could be out for up to four weeks due to the injury. X-rays taken during the match showed a “intra articular communicated fracture,” but there is no displacement or angulation, according to a statement from PCB. Shadab will enter a four-week rehabilitation programme until the condition is handled conservatively.

“After sustaining a left toe injury while batting during the second One-Day International, Shadab Khan has been ruled out of further action on the South Africa and Zimbabwe tours,” the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced in an official statement.

Pakistan were defeated by 17 runs in the second One-Day International, despite Fakhar Zaman’s splendid 193-run innings.

Pakistan’s chase of the target got off to a rocky start, with Imam-ul-Haq being dismissed in the first over of the innings. After that, Zaman was joined by Babar Azam.

In the 11th over, Anrich Nortje took two wickets, lowering Pakistan’s score to 71/3 at the end of 11 overs. Nortje has got rid of Danish Aziz in the 15th over.

Zaman persisted in battling South African bowlers despite receiving little help from the other end. In the 39th over, he finished his century.

Zaman had run out of partners due to the ever-increasing desired pace. With two wickets in hand, Pakistan required 31 in the final over to prevail. Pakistan never had a chance after Zaman’s run-out from the first ball, and the visitors lost by 17 runs.

South Africa has levelled the three-match ODI series at 1-1, with the series decider scheduled for April 7.
