The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) played an intra-squad practise match as they prepare for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which starts on Friday. CSK took to Twitter on Wednesday to post a video of their stars in action, including MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, and Dwayne Bravo. The match’s highlights also featured an attacking Cheteshwar Pujara, who played some lofted shots for India. “Highlights from the #SuperMatch! MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina were also seen batting together for the first time in the film, which was shot after both players declared their retirement from international cricket last August.
Raina was unable to compete in the IPL last year due to personal reasons, but he is back with his IPL franchise for IPL 2021.
Last year, CSK had their worst season in IPL history, when the three-time champions struggled to qualify for the play-offs for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Chennai finished seventh in the points table, but just before CSK’s final league stage game in IPL 2020, Dhoni revealed that he would return to lead the team in the 14th edition of the IPL, much to the delight of the supporters.
On April 10, CSK will kick off their IPL 2021 campaign in Mumbai against last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals.
CSK will be aiming to win the trophy for the fourth time with the return of Raina and the addition of new faces such as Moeen Ali, Krishnappa Gowtham, and a veteran IPL player in Robin Uthappa to their ranks.
