The Deepak Hooda and Mayank Agarwal mix-up has left fans perplexed : IPL 2021

One of the craziest and funniest run-outs in IPL history occurred during the ongoing 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC).

Punjab Kings were put in to bat first after Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first. KL Rahul was replaced by Mayank Agarwal, who was also making his IPL captaincy debut, as PBKS made two changes. DC stayed the same. Dawid Malan made his IPL debut as well.

Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed for 12 runs and Chris Gayle was dismissed for 13 runs as PBKS failed to cope with DC bowlers. David Malan and Mayank Agarwal managed to steady the ship with a 52-run third-wicket stand.

Malan, on the other hand, was dismissed for 26 runs by Akshar Patel, who was then dismissed for one run by Deepak Hooda.

On the third ball of Akshar’s 14th over, the mishap occurred. Mayank Agarwal hit a fast single to the covers with the full ball. Hooda, on the other hand, isn’t as enthusiastic as Shimron Hetmyer, who is chasing the ball and diving to cut it.

As Hetmyer flicked the ball to Akshar, Deepak Hooda and Mayank Agarwal were both at the same end, the bowling end. Akshar removed the bails because Hooda was still dropping hard, and replays showed that no batsmen had crossed the pitch. Akshar was spotted short of the blue line and issued his marching orders when he broke the stumps.
