Yuzvendra Chahal, one of Rajasthan Royals’ newest additions ahead of the IPL 2022 season, complimented the organisation for signing him. The wrist-spinner was one of many fresh purchases made by the inaugural IPL champions on day one of the big auction, for which they paid Rs 6.5 crore.
Chahal is one of the most experienced Indian spinners in T20 cricket, with the potential to pick up wickets in the middle overs. The Haryana native debuted in the Indian Premier League in 2013, and has since played for the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Chahal has also been a steady performer in the IPL, having taken more than 20 wickets three times. In 2015, he had his greatest season, taking 23 scalps in 15 contests for an average of 18.04. In 2021, the leg-spinner had a strong season as well, but he was overlooked for the T20 World Cup.
Trent Boult, Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Prasidh Krishna, Riyan Parag, KC Cariappa, and Navdeep Saini are among the other players Rajasthan Royals have acquired. The franchise still has a budget of Rs 9.5 crore to work with. Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashavi Jaiswal have all been retained prior to the blockbuster auction.
