Deepak Chahar, Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) most expensive signing, is expected to miss the most of the IPL 2022 season after tearing his quadriceps in the third T20I against West Indies last month.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Chahar’s recovery from the significant injury might take several weeks. Since the IPL 2022 season begins on March 26, there’s a good probability he won’t play in the event at all.
CSK is still awaiting a final report from Chahar’s rehabilitation facility, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. After impressing with both bat and ball for India, he was one of the most sought-after players in the auction.
The Chennai franchise paid INR 14 crores for Chahar, making him the second most expensive player in this year’s auction. After Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad made serious bids for him, CSK raced in late to grab the bowling all-rounder.
He has now been MS Dhoni’s go-to bowler in the powerplay, when he is most effective. Chahar thrives on mobility and offers breakthroughs for the CSK brand whenever he is able to extract enough of it.
