Afghan cricketer Mohammad Shahzad Mohammadi competes for the country’s men’s national team in international competition. For the Afghanistan squad, Shahzad starts the batting and maintains the wickets. On January 31, 1988, Mohammad Shahzad Mohammadi was born in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar Province.
Worldwide Career
Shahzad was instrumental in Afghanistan’s 2008 efforts, which allowed the Afghan National Cricket Team to qualify for the 2009 Cricket World Cup in South Africa. He took the initiative by doing well in the competition. His efforts led to Afghanistan receiving One Day International recognition. At VRA Cricket Ground on August 30, 2009, Shahzad played in his first ODI match against the Netherlands. Shahzad played against Ireland in his first Twenty20 international match in February 2010.
In May 2018, Afghanistan’s roster for their first Test match against India included Shahzad as one of the eleven players.
Residential Career
Shahzad never played much of Afghanistan’s elite domestic cricket despite being an essential member of the national squad. In the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, he has only participated in two games, both of which were played in the 2015–16 season. He served as the Band-e-Amir Dragons’ captain. For the Spin Ghar Tigers in the 2018 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament, Shahzad served as captain as well.
Mohammad Shahzad Mohammadi was included in the Afghan team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April 2019.
