Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik has addressed the speculations surrounding the termination of his contract with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise, Fortune Barishal. Reports earlier suggested that his contract was terminated due to suspicions of match-fixing, stemming from his bowling of three no-balls in a single over during a match against Khulna Tigers.
In a statement, Malik clarified that his contract termination was the result of a mutual agreement. He explained that he was in Dubai for pre-arranged personal commitments and expressed his willingness to return and continue playing for Barishal in the future.
Malik stated, “I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumors circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai.” He extended his best wishes to Fortune Barishal and offered his support if needed.
The cricketer refuted the baseless rumors and urged caution in spreading false information that could harm reputations. He emphasized the importance of verifying information before believing and spreading it. Malik concluded by expressing gratitude for the support and understanding of his fans.
