Craig Kieswetter Bio

Craig Kieswetter is a former English cricketer who was born in South Africa on November 28, 1987. He was a wicketkeeper batsman who specialised in limited overs cricket. He is now a professional golfer after retiring from the service.

Background

Kieswetter moved to England to play county cricket after being born and bred in South Africa. Somerset was his first client in 2007.

His limited-overs performances earned him a call-up to the national team. In addition, England’s team lacked a good wicketkeeper, so he was given a chance.

Debut

A former South African captain approached Craig after seeing his domestic performances and invited him to play for his country, but Craig declined and expressed his desire to play for England.

In 2010, he made his ODI debut against Bangladesh, opening the batting with Alastair Cook and scoring 19 runs. In his third match, he hit his first century, hitting 107 runs.

Low Points

After a positive start to his career, Kieswetter was unable to retain his place and was released from the team. Jos Butler, who was also an explosive batsman, became a great choice for the England team as a wicketkeeper.

Club Career

For the 2013-14 Big Bash League season, Kieswetter signed with Brisbane Heat and scored two fifties.

Craig was not sold at the IPL auction, but he went on to play well for the Titans in the T20 Challenge in South Africa.

Retirement

Kieswetter was seriously wounded and losing about 80-85 percent of his vision while batting for Somerset against Northamptonshire. He was stuck by a bouncer bowled by David Willey while batting for Somerset against Northamptonshire.

He was unable to recover and was forced to retire from professional cricket in order to pursue a career as a professional golfer.
